Calculation of the time period for transactions carried out before the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office, within the scope of COVID-19 measures

The time periods indicated in the Law no.6769 on Industrial Property and applied by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office were suspended as of 13 March 2020. The suspension of these deadlines has been extended up to 15 June 2020 pursuant to decision of the president of the Republic, no.2480, dated 29 April 2020, published in the Official Gazette dated 30 April 2020. Following these two regulations, the extended time period related to the transactions carried out before the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office, governed by the Law no.6769, and which started to run previously, will be calculated as indicated hereunder:

Before 13 March 2020 15 June 2020 and after 95 days will be added to the date of expiry, prior to suspension, of the time period indicated in the Law or granted by the Institution.
Between 13 March and 15 June 2020 15 June 2020 and after On the expiry date indicated in the Law or granted by the Institution, the start date being 16 June 2020 (i.e. The period of objection to a trademark application published on 27 April 2020 will start on 16 June 2020 and expire on 16 August 2020)
