Big raid at Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar
Having received a notice from an unknown sender, the police raided more than a hundred stores in the historical and most visited shopping center Grand Bazaar of Istanbul to chase counterfeit goods. The operation actually started after the failure of the earlier police raid at the stores in the Grand Bazaar. After the failure, the police wire-tapped particular clerks and storeowners which led to the detention of more than 80 people including three alleged leaders and four clerks. On Saturday morning police first raided the houses of some storeowners and then went to the stores at the Grand Bazaar. Apart from the suspects and the police confiscated counterfeit bags, watches, and scarves of well-known trademarks.
